I agree - the liquid nitrogen was good, real good. Made me sad tho, that chic was fine, real fine - almost ruined the movie for me.
Funny thing is the ending - when they are looking out of the pod when they escaped the big ship, seeing jason flying thru space towards thier pod and out of nowhere gets grabbed by the military dude. Whats even more funny is the ending of the ending, where the 2 people that were making out on the planet see the meteor type thing land in the lake. Lol, we know where that one is going...

I can't be bothered seeing scary movies anymore the just are sooo boring
The last one I saw was the House on Haunted Hill, what a waste of money. Oh and Black Witch 2, one of the all time crap sequels. Funnily enough I saw this in Florida (of all places) and afterwards so many people were saying it was better than the first. Must be something in the water ![]() Now Lord of the Rings there is a classic film And Al it comes out here on Thursday - sweet Apparently the premerie of III will be in NZ, but I don't believe it. |

I don't get it though - why do they release movies on thursdays? Why not fridays or weekends?
Zitan, in nz do they have tons and tons of ads for die another day? 'Coz in downtown in mel you can't go half a block without seeing some poster, and shops are filled with jinx pictures. Not saying phillips and braun are advertising as if they had made the movie instead.. Dunno, some people say moview is one big commercial, while I disagree with that I just can't stand amount of ads on the streets... |

Totally Al, Thursdays is a stupid day.
No where near that much advertising thankfully. There has been quite a bit of advertising which is annoying, hell it is just *another* bond movie. Not sure about the companies you mentioned we don't have them here. So many films get overhyped alright: Godzilla, Spider-man, etc... give me something original anyday. I guess I also just have issues with corporate advertising and the media in general. There is a lot of LOTR advertising, but that is to be expected ![]() |

I think that they release movies that are going to be big at odd times - I see a lot of movies like Spiderman, LOTR, etc. being released in the middle of the week, but then movies like Ghost Ship, XXX, etc. get released on a Friday. They know that for movies like that the die hards are going to go the first night it's out. For big movies like Spiderman and LOTR, that guarantees a good return on the first night from the die hards, while it keeps some extra seats available at the weekend showings for the people who just really want to see it.
Spiderman wasn't so bad, I just think the Green Goblin is a lame villian. If they wanted to pick a goblin they would have done better to go with Demogoblin IMHO. On top of that, they didn't draw the tight connections that Spiderman and GG had in the comic, so a lot of the story got lost. They did the same thing with Batman when they introduced Two Face in the movie - they didn't play on the friendship that Harvey Dent and Bruce Wayne had and they never really explain that Harvey wasn't always a homicidal maniac, so a lot of the feeling for the character Two Face is lost in the movie which makes him just another dull villian). Of course, they can't throw out the big guns like Venom and Carnage until later movies so that's why they weren't in it.I also saw a history segment during a James Bond marathon right before DOD came out saying that, while Bond has played well in the states, it hasn't been so welcome in other parts of the world, so they were going to focus a big advertising campaign outside of the states. That could explain why you've been buried in Bond advertising, Al. |

I'm not the type that roots for the underdog or the little guy unless he really deserves to prevail in the end. I think I might also check out Friday After Next. I got no problem with movies like Lord of the Rings, just not on the top of my list. But if you like movies about success against the odds, that's Drumline. A poor, single-parent, innner-city youth, who gets a scholarhip playing the drums to college and has to adjust to college life, being on his own, and this hard band. IF you've ever seen bands like Florida A&M, Jackson State(Walter Payton), Alcorn(Steve Mcnair), Grambling(used to be good but suck now) you'd know these bands are like the the ones at schools where they are considered geeks, they work just as hard physically as the sports team and get thier props from thier students. But I guess down-south music is more a part of the heritage than the Northern US. |

Worst martial artist in the world? Are you kidding me. Did you see Hard to Kill and Marked for Death. Yeah he doesn't do a lot of the flashy stuff Van Damme and Jet Li do, but no one does that. It's for TV, some of that stuff they do no one one try it in real life. I went to a martial arts camp once, and they showed me how that high kick over his head Van Damme does is just for show. You can't do it and stay on balance, you can easily be pushed back trying it. The martial arts style Segal studied is one of the most popular in the world, he is just older than he used to be. But some of yall are worse than these movie critics. They movies they tell us won't be good, usally are, and the ones they tell us will be great(Scream series) are never good unless it's something different from the rest like Spiderman, Star Wars, etc. I'd go see a LOTR as long as it's not premiering the same night as a Denzel Washington movie. In hollywood, it's all about who acted in it and who directed, and if you're not a certain select group of actors or directors, your movie doesn't get the good reviews. And we as consumers go to the movies and instead of judging for ourselves are almost blinded by the reviews we've seen or find ourselves doing the same as the critics.

Ahh, we're just so psyched up about LOTR because of our background - it could be a piece of crap [which, of course, it won't
] and I'd be standing in below freezing temperatures at a quarter to midnight to get in and see it. For some reason the whole LOTR thing is just a real big draw for a lot of techies. I'm willing to bet we have a lot of AD&D fiends here as well.I whole-heartedly agree with that comment about the critics. We have a local movie-critic who's constantly bashing the good stuff and touting the crap. I don't think I've EVER agreed with her on any movie review for a movie that wasn't obvious crap. Chris the Critic gives the thumbs up to: LOTR Spiderman Star Wars IV, V Fight Club Texas Chainsaw Massacre (scary...) Akira X-Men And the Middle Finger to: Star Wars I Scream 1-3 Friday the 13th 4+ Any Nightmare On Elm Street Wishmaster 1+ Feel free to edit the lists to your tastes ![]() Segal's lousy as a movie-man. He's not a bad fighter and he definitely uses a more realistic style, but that's not exciting. We focused on street fighting in training, and one big thing was to always keep movement to a minimum and keep all your strikes as close to your own body as you could - like Segal does. It's much faster and involves less energy-expenditure. BUT, it's not exciting... I'm not a big Van Damme fan either. I think the only people who could ever really pull off the fantastical moves and make it look real (and, maybe even pull them off when they ARE real) were Bruce Lee and Jet Li. No contest though, Bruce Lee was far and away the best known fighter yet. |

The main theme in Jason (Friday the 13th) movies seems to be teenagers have sex, then die. Hehe...
As for a scary movie, you should try watching the Japanese Ring and Japanese Ring 0. I watched it in my dorm with all the lights out with my friends and it was stupid at first. Then when you're alone taking a shower or something is when you get scared ![]()

I would have to agree with Ctb. While Segal's fighting style is more realistic, it is now where near as entertaining which is why you go to see a movie in the first place. Don't get me wrong, I don't have anything against Segal and the only good movie Van Dumbass made was BloodSport. I still laugh my *** off when I think about the fact that he was fired from the movie Predator because he kept passing out. I glad he did though, caused major improvements for the actual predator.
I think that LOTR should be released in NZ since that is where it was made. And as far as AD&D, I use to be an avid player, but that has been years. I was totally disgusted by the movie. Expected more out of that one than I got. Now, about Sidey, Batman & the X Men. Anyone who went in expecting it to be true to the comics, or as in depth as the comics were just setting themselves up for disappointment. To do justice to that degree it would take several hours worth of movie and they just aren't going to do it. Unfortunate as it is, they just have to trim it down and make adjustments to the story to make it as self contained as possible. I liked the Spiderman movie and will go and see the others when they come out, but I don't expect it to stay inline with the comic. I didn't like some of the things in the movie because I am such an avid Spidey fan, but just as a movie it was pretty good. Another good example of this would be Blade. Outrager, you are almost on the dot with the plot to Friday the 13th. It is basically if you have sex, do drugs, be annoying, or breath then you are going to die or be running around the entire time screaming like a little kid. ![]() |

Onslaught, you just recited the entire plotline of every slasher flick ever released
![]() And hey, look at LOTR. No Wights, no Bombadil, no tree... they missed a TON of stuff from the beginning of the book alone and it still is over 2.5 hours long. But no one (well... almost no one) is griping about that! But they give Spiderman a hard time... |
