Speaking of Googling for yourself, I had a little fun with search engine indexing the past few weeks. A few of you noticed that I was looking for a job recently (no longer, thankfully); so I started thinking about how Google supposedly bases its rankings not on Meta tags, or keywords, but on the number of sites that link to you.
Also, I read an article about how many businesses are using the search engines to find online resumes. So, I realized that I have thousands of posts in various forums, eash of which has a sig. I set up my sig at each of these to point to http://brainscraps.com/resume/ (see, I just did it again). So... at one point a couple of weeks ago I was the number one result if you searched Google for "Web Application Developer PHP PostgreSQL". Not that I got my recent job that way, but it was just fun to prove how Google works. No, even though I got plenty of hits on my resume, I ended up getting a job the way I always do: word of mouth. Oh well...

And that only proves the fact that internet is full of poor bastards who are not willing to pay money for anything. Give me world for nothing. Congrats on getting a job though. But you shouldn't have shared this top secret know-how with anyone ![]()

ROFLMAO @ Al, you aren't the only one today, I barely got anything at all done today at work, spent way more time on here than doing much there.

It was a bad day for employers all around then!
I didn't get much done today either... er... yesterday.. or, wait, no... it's still today yet today - but Al - for you it's yesterday (today that is). Let's see if anyone can figure out what that meant... ..as for Al's threats against my personal being... I feel perfectly safe in my following response, given that there is a rather large ocean, not to mention a whole continent, between myself and the gentleman in question: **** off! The new post still works, but you have to manually add it to the end of the url.
Just type #newpost after the url and hit enter. Eclipce

Hey rycamor, i have seen people do that quite a few times.
I heard about the Googlebomb that someone did with Microsoft. Type "go to hell" with quotes into Google and it came up #1. They fixed this a while ago. |

That's scary/creepy! I've got to start posting less to this and other places. IMHO DevShed ought to have a robots.txt file that keeps these search engines out...

Well i think its good if you can type into Google a problem and it then points to an answer at Devshed. Helps people a lot and brings extra traffic to the forums. Extra traffic most likely means more revenue for Devshed.
