Some time back, I remember a thread floating around here in the lounge. The thread was discussing devshed chat. I am interested in getting a few or more of the professionals here on the forums together for a live chat discussion about open-source technologies and pass around a few ideas, bang heads together to come up with ideas, etc., etc..
This has come to mind as M$ is making moves to expand their stranglehold on the market (as if their current stranglehold isn't enough) and to prevent enterprises from defecting from M$ to viable open source products. Open source is making good progress in the corporate world, but I believe not enough progress in the small enterprise sector (an area of the market that will take help and cooperation from all small to mid sized development firms).
I think if we can get enough professionals to join in on a weekly discussion, or bi-weekly discussion, we can help further educate each other and help expand open source or help wedge a block in the small enterprise sector (which is roughly 90% of the corporate market here in the states).
I am thinking of touching on subjects as corporate networks/office integration and open source ecommerce solutions; just to name a couple.
This would be more less for current industry professionals who are looking to expand their products and (or) services, or developers looking to become industry professionals...
Anyone interested?
Anyone got ideas?
Anyone want to participate in these discussions?
We can use YIM are AIM for the client applications or any other voice enabled client - any other reccomendations for the clients?
