Corporate Website Tips? (And More)
I apologize if this is the wrong forum to post this topic in.
I am possibly getting a job at a mechanical engineering company in my city. The company needs someone to build and maintain their corporate web site. They also need for someone to run their Novell Netware network. They called me today with all of these details and would like for me to start working for them soon if possible. Anyway, what are some tips that I should follow when making a corporate web site? Does anyone know of any good sites that discuss this? I already have a lot of experience with HTML, various server side languages, SQL database structures, and graphic design (and a little bit of experience in administering an Apache server at home). However, I'm not very experienced with administering a Novell Netware network and not really up to date with the creation of corporate web sites. Any tips for that? Thanks for any responses. |

Well, first I'd figure out what they wish to accomplish through the website, what it's influence would be, and how large they want it to be.

You have to keep mind of the audience of your site and their abilities. You will lose them if it is confusing to them. It's unfortunate but some of these people I really wonder how they manage to get dressed in the morning.
We have also had probs with corporate firewalls, some don't allow java applets through. Other corporate users have their browser settings set to disable js. Your site should still be useable by these folks. And of course it should work cross-browser. |
