counting visitors

hi!

i'm doing some web applications to count visitors. however, the techniqe is the big question.

should I see if the visitor have been on my site for day 1 and if not add him or should I see if he/she was the last visitor and if not, add him?

not too important I guess...

Do your first method, if you use the method of checking to see if s/he was last visitor you won't get a true count.
