How to determine right forum to post in if multiple are applicable?

A while back, I was handed maintenance duty for a program we use on handheld barcode scanners. I'm trying to figure out how to add a new function to it - the scanners are running Windows Mobile, the program is written in C# via Visual Studio 2005. Each of these (WMobile, C#, VS) appears to have its own dedicated subforum on this site. Given that I would prefer not to spam the site by posting the same thing in multiple forums, what is the correct way to determine which of these forums I should post in?

    Hi,

Thanks for asking first! I would suggest using the #C forum for starters. If you don't get a result after a bit, then maybe try one of the other ones.

Just pick one and a mod can move it around later on if the discussion shifts definitively to one side or the other. Just don't post it in both forums, obviously.

Asking first here never hurts, either.
