Do you play any music instruments?
Greets
I'm just wondering how many people play, or think they do, some sort of music instrument? It's just that I was - am? - going to learn how to play piano. You know, one of those electronic things with tunes and all, not that huge 50 years old fireplace wood. I find piano - or whatever the appropriate term is - to be one of the most 'musical' and should be fairly simple since it has about the same number of buttons as keyboard.

i played the drum kit a few years ago. I had to give up as i ran out of space to put it.
jpenn - if you want to take out your frustration on a musical instrument, try playing the drum kit. You can bang the drums as hard as you like and they call it music!! |

Al, aren't those little thingies on a piano called "keys" as well?
Quote:
Back when I was in High School the administration decided to give aspiring "talent" at the school a chance to show their stuff. One of the drummers got so out of control his nose started bleeding and he splattered blood halfway across the stage. One of the vocalists took the opportunity in the limelight to "express" himself by screaming "You're all ******* w****s" into the mic at 3/4 of the student body... needless to say, this did not become an annual event. ![]() I also used to play trumpet back then, but I hated it. No matter what I did, the only things I ever got to practice on were stupid things like "Twinkle twinkle little star" and half of "Mary had a little lamb". Ugh. I might have kept up with it had it not been such a mind-numbing exercise in futility. My parents tried to make me go, but I finally just started skipping the lessons until they gave up. Amusingly, I am considering dropping out of college for a second time for the same reason... I guess the more things change the more they stay the same, eh? |

Ah, there's nothing like cranking up the volume on the amp and going off on a few licks on the ol' Gibson. Just love those guitars... My wife and the neighbours are not too happy though...
I've played (guitar and bass) in a few bands as well, but nothing atm, so I settle for improvised gigs on parties etc. Just can't let go... jd - I'd go for the guitar... And banging on them drums is a great way to chill out... //NoXcuz

i say if you have time to learn both, go for it. but if it comes to a choice, id recommend you take the guitar lessons first. |

Don't forget, guitars are easier to transport to your next gig than drums or a piano! Then again, maybe you should play the flute, cuz it's probably the easiest instrument to carry around. Besides, you can still move with the cool crowd with a flute, judging by the number of Jethro Tull fans in Bangalore!
My instruments: 1. Fender Squier Stratocaster Guitar 2. Kramer Flying V Guitar, Floyd Rose tremelo, Dual Seymour Duncan humbucking pickups (needs some repairs) 3. Givson strat clone 4. Noname clone (looks likes the guitar that Eddie Van Halen uses) 5. Givson Spanish Acoustic Guitar 6. Fender Bullet Amp 7. Ibanez SS-10 Musicman effects box As to my playing skills, I don't think I play that good, but I certainly don't lack for enthusiasm. Hey, I even played in a band that finished third in a battle of the bands competition a LONG time ago . |
