I'm pretty sure everybody has reached his "plateau". I used to read quit a lot of threads in the php forum but now it longuer is the case. I used to learn a lot back then, either I'm so good! Or the level has gone down. I also lost my patience w/ newbies. Unless they show they wan't to learn, sometimes it's just a tiny thing that have been overlooked and am glad to help. Otherwise...

Actually, (at least for me) it is just a phase. For a while I was just tired of the same ole questions so I didn't visit that much, but then got back into it several months later. I am just not as watchfull of the threads nor as patient as I use to be.

I read the ones with good subject titles, and 0 replies. I try to enforce the "good subject title rule", and give "gentler" rtfm replies.
Not to rehash an old topic, but a beginner php and an advanced php, might not be a bad idea. Sure, we're going to have a few problems, but I think it will help. It certainly can't hurt. If it is a basic question, no one should answer it, and the moderator moves it to the beginner forum. No need to flame people and get your a$$ hairs in a bunch, just move the thread.

In general, like more people mentioned, I select the threads I read on some criteria:
1) subject: do I know something about it? do I want to? 2) replies: 0 replies makes me wanna help people ![]() 3) names: is the poster serious?, is the last poster a 'veteran' (making my presence there unneeded) About the phase-thingy: I only come at devshed when I'm either bored and want to do something usefull like helping people or when I'm working on some project I need help with (either asking in the forum or searching the boards... mainly the last thing actually). So in boring times I'll be here more often I think there will be a strong seasonal influence as well, since I'd be crazy to sit behind my PC while the sun is shining outside and lovely girls are to be found skating, swimming, etc.. ![]()

These "girls" you speak of... I think I've seen pictures. Are you telling me they are real!?
