I was just browsing though this forum, and noticed none of the 'usual suspects' are listed as posters on the HTML/Javascript/CSS/KitchenSink board...
What forums do you spend the most time in? Myself would be PHP/PHP5 and the Lounge... ![]()

I used to lurk in the PHP/PHP 5 forums however only visit rarely as it was evident that many weren't reading the stickys and were asking the same questions over and over (this may not be the case as much) Now Postgres, General Database Discussion, occasionally C++ and Python, and of course this one.

The HTML forum is my home. I used to be quite active in it, but I got busy recently (I tend not to even post once a day now). I also noticed in the last six moths or so, a general 'lack of quality' of questions. I don't mean stupid questions, I just mean that most of the complex questions can usually be answered by using the search feature, which many people still don't take advantage of. Lots of people do though, and cudos to them. It's more likely though that since I'm short on time, I get annoyed at those posts since I can't answer them, whereas earlier I just would have thrown together a quick fresh example.
Questions that can't be answered via a link to a previous post are often so because someone doesn't understand the scope of their problem, and are unwilling to look at an existing solution to try and figure out how it works in that context, then apply that knowledge to their own implementation. The good questions that don't fit into either of those categories do come up though, but sadly I don't really have the time anymore to give up thirty minutes to help those people. It used to be if me, or a few other people couldn't pick up the complicated posts, adios would surely come up with an excellent solution (who, incidentally taught me quite a bit). But even he seems hard on time recently. That forum now just seems to be a mishmash of really simple questions that could be solved via a google query, but many people don't want to bother learning...they just want something that works. And even more sad is there doesn't seem to be anyone to provide concrete answers to many of the questions. |

I do, don't do so much posting but being the mod I try to keep it clean, hopefully when time clears up I will start posting more again.
I generally frequent, Lounge, Begginers, PHP, MySQL, HTML (et al) and occasionally I will look through the others if I am really bored or have loads of free time.
