I just installed folding@home. Fold to Cure. I swear whoever came up with this deserves a nobel prize or something.

Takes CPU power to run the eye-candy GUI that could be dedicated to folding, so yeah... console gives better performance.

Someone might want to share that with whoever's got that post that prof linked to. Cause I followed their advice and got the gui. But I'll be switching too.

Also I've got a question. Is this thing supposed to save it's progress on a work unit. Like if I reboot in the middle of one?

You won't lose any progress if you reboot or shut down for a while. It'll just pick up where it was.

EDIT: I don't think there's that much difference betwee the GUI and console, though. The FAQ says that the screensaver uses around 5% of the CPU. (is that the GUI version?) Windows users (in general) are probably more content with seeing something actually running rather than it running in the background, I imagine.

Thats why i installed the Gui....

Yes you can pause, stop and reboot and it should pick up from where ever it left off - i think.

Depends on when you reboot. The FAQ says it saves the progress after each frame. So if you rebooted in the middle of a frame, it would have lost that time. Each WU can have a different amount of frames, though. So as long as you weren't in the very first frame, it should have saved something... :?

Well I'm already back to where I was. But once I get back to packing I'll probably catch up some more.

Given the title of this thread, what constitutes a Folding Milestone?
