Forum question
Just out of curiosity:
1. Why isnt the C# forum in with the C, C++, and other C languages? 2. Why does the Java forum say about "server-side Java programming"? What about standalone Java applications? |

1) ermm... because c# is not c/++
2) ermmmmmmm... because this is web-dev based community.... yeah...

But regardless of C#'s relation to C/C++, it's still somewhat of a child of the C language, isn't it?
And if the "web dev" answer is the reason that standalone Java isnt included, then why is Visual Basic? Shouldn't that be a forum for VBScript, because Visual Basic, technically, isnt used for web dev. Although you can program ActiveX IE controls for the Internet with VB, but then again, you can program applets with Java. I don't wanna argue or anything, I just don't see the answer in that. |

chop-chop. Lets close all the forums and go home.
I don't know why forums are the way they are, and frankly I don't care. People requested separate visual basic forum - admins gave it to use. People want to separate c and c# - let it be so. As for java - there wouldn't be enough traffic in that section anyways, so why bother adding one more link? Quite a number of programmers here are from good ol' c background, but only a few from java. And about C# being child of C, well no more then C is child of A. |

Yeah Al is right there, C# is really a child of Java (more than c), and therefore should be in that forum
Lol.It is surprising to see lack of traffic in the .net related forums, I thought people would be just dying to get into it ![]() |

..... also java pretty much markets itself now as a full server-side language, applets and stand alone apps I guess just don't pay as well
They would be happy with devshed's arrangement ... |

:-)
I really don't mind or anything, I'm not gonna bitch that there's not a seperate Java forum or anything. It was just a thought. Thanks for the clarification. And on a final note, I really wish Microsoft would stop messing with programming languages... J#, C#, J++, they really need to knock it off already, its not funny anymore :-) |

Totally with you there, in fact they should just give up the whole server-side battle, stupid language names as well as no security
Now PHP: Hypertext Preprocessor - thats a language name lol ![]() |

![]() I love the irony of it... the thickest book on my shelf is a VB.Net book. The most worthless programming language book I have (meaning the language is worthless.. not the book) is VB.Net... how do you wind up with a book 5 times the thickness of Programming Perl for a language that can't do half the work of Perl? ![]() |
