Google experts and linking
As most of you may know, you can see which sites Google has linking to you. However, the problem I see is that Google doesn't always seem to show nearly all the sites that link to me. The sites are indexed by Google and clearly link to me but are not in their list. Second, it list my site as linking to my site a number of times. Does this hurt my rank? Anyone have more details about what their bot considers a link? I have read their entire section about crawling, ranking etc. The answer isn't there so I'm not sure how many people will know this.

If a site that is linking to you is not listed in google, then that linking link will not show up on the link:address results. Also, it used to be funny about sub-domains, being the results never showed for sub-domains unless you typed in the sub-domain name. It treated the sub-domain and regular domain as seperate domains (not sure if they have changed that tho).

Actually most the sites that link to me are also indexed by google . To take it one step further I will even see if the exact page that has the link is indexed and it almost always is. I also noticed that you can click "contain the term..." when I click this much of these sites that link come up but are considered by Google. The reason I ask this is because there are a good 20+ sites not showing up. This would increase my rank as they are have similar content. I don't use sub-domains but it still shows for example http://www.mysite.com/dir/ as a link to my homepage as this page of course contains all the links to naviage within the site (as well as all other pages). Should I email this to Google?

You can try to send an email and hope for a response. They are very secretative (all the big search engines are) about giving out any information pertaining to rankings issues. They may email you back and tell you that the only info they can give you is what is on there q&a pages. If they email you back with good info, then post some of it here so we all can benefit from your findings... ![]() |

I know, I know,
O.K. anyways... To be shown as link popularity to your site the page linked to you needs to a have a ranking of 3 or better. You can see the ranking for a page with the google bar. There are some discrepancies but this is the general rule of thumb. They actually block several links if they are cross linked back to you too many times. And sometimes if they are on the same i.p. they may be blocked. BTW we are top listed in Google it's worth the research to understand link popularity and keyword density. They be can be your whole market campaign... -Charles |

Charles, Thanks for the reply. Can you elaborate more on what this means? Also you said the site has to be in the top three. This is not true. If I type link:www.mydomain.com and do the google search none of the sites that link to me are in the top 3. However, there are at least 2 dozen sites linking that are indexed to me but aren't included in this list. |

I think you are confusing search engine rank with popularity rank. I probably explained wrong Popularity ranks 1-10 for google, the more links to you from a high ranked page raises your 1-10 ranking. Once you make 3 you can start counting for link popularity yourself. The only way to measure this is with the google search bar. Quote:
Actually they are huge payoff keywords that has made us a revenue of over $30,000 a month with less then $5000 advertising. This is steady for almost two years now. No traffic is better then search engines other then a referral in my opinion. The only only I like to give out is "paypal web hosting" If you want hosting and to use paypal we are fairly high. Our keywords that pay the bills I do not like to give out. Just for the record I am not soliciting and I don"t mind giving information even though it took me years to understand. Quote:
No problem The most valuable aspect to google and now rising Teoma.com is how many pages that rank high are linked directly to your front page. The difference with the Teoma that some analyst think make them intimately bigger then google (once they allow adult stuff) is they take it one step further and use the sites popularity and the category for how much it counts in your search engine ranking. So for teoma.com you if you are truck company you want the highest ranking truck companies linking to you. But it is very important to know what the rank is for the actual page that is pointing to you. This is the page that needs to be at-least a 3 out of 10 in google search bar. If you have one site with a high ranking 7 out of 10 in Google's bar, this would be better then a hundred sites linking to you that have a 0 or 1 google bar ranking. And if they link to you from their front page it's even better, just never trade a link that is more then two folders back. Best rule is to the keep the link trading page on the main directory. There is a trick, I have checked my competitors and some have better popularity then us but we will still rank higher. This is because the keyword density. If you target the right keywords and keep them at or around thirty percent of your text you can be listed in front of big high popularity sites just because you are considered targeted from the keyword density. You links with the keyword in it should also be around 30 percent. Basically keep 3 out of 10 links to sites or pages on your site with the keywords you want to focus on. Image tags should about 50% - 70% keywords. One last thing in a nut shell, don't over due the keywords, the bots have strict punishments for anyone trying to do what's called search engine spamming. Keep your keywords under 80% for links, text, and image tags. Hope some of this makes since I am not used to explaining my methods of madness just using them. -Charles ![]() |

Oh - understood. I was not asking to get your keywords - I was asking to see if I can put your comments together with them to see if your claims are legit. I am sure they are as you would have no reason to give false claims, the only problem is I ran a whole pile of keywords through google - keywords that matched up with your site content/business and did not find you listed anywhere in the first 4 pages. But, thats ok - I was just curious...EDIT::: Forgot to mention - I ran the keys on the dw hosting site address... |
