All race fans, and most others, will be sick of the procession that is F1. Schumacher wins everything and overtaking is only done when Ferrari say it's allowed. So here's the ultimate battle. Try this script for a little bit of Ferarri versus McClaren action.
Code:
<html>
<head>
<style type="text/css">
#redCar, #silverCar {position:absolute; left:0;font-family:webdings;font-size:24pt; text-align:right}
#redCar {color:red; top:10;}
#silverCar {color:silver; top:30;}
#road {position:absolute; top:20; left:0; height:40; width:550; background-color:black;}
#finish {position:absolute; top:20; left:500; height:40; width:50; background-color:transparent; border:thin white dotted; border-style:none none none dotted;}
#line{position:absolute; top:40; left:0; height:20; width:550; background-color:transparent; border:thin white dotted; border-style:dotted none none none;}
#pos3, #pos2, #pos1, #pos0, #mc, #fe {position:absolute; top:70; left:2; visibility:hidden;}
</style>
<script type="text/javascript">
pos = 3
function init() {
for (x = 0; x < 4; x++) {
document.getElementById("pos" + x).style.visibility = "hidden"
}
document.getElementById("pos" + pos).style.visibility = "visible"
if (pos == 0) {
setTimeout("go()",250)
} else {
pos--
setTimeout("init()",500)
}
}
function go() {
document.getElementById('pos0').style.visibility = 'hidden'
document.getElementById("redCar").style.left = parseInt(document.getElementById("redCar").style.left) + Math.ceil(Math.random() * 2)
document.getElementById("silverCar").style.left = parseInt(document.getElementById("silverCar").style.left) + Math.ceil(Math.random() * 2)
if (parseInt(document.getElementById("redCar").style.left) + 35 >= 500) {
alert("Ferrari is the winner")
} else if (parseInt(document.getElementById("silverCar").style.left) + 35 >= 500) {
alert("McClaren is the winner")
} else {
if (parseInt(document.getElementById("silverCar").style.left) > parseInt(document.getElementById("redCar").style.left)) {
document.getElementById('fe').style.visibility = 'hidden'
document.getElementById('mc').style.visibility = 'visible'
} else {
document.getElementById('fe').style.visibility = 'visible'
document.getElementById('mc').style.visibility = 'hidden'
}
setTimeout("go()",25)
}
}
</script>
</head>
<body onLoad='init()' onClick='winner = true'>
<div id='road'></div>
<div id='line'></div>
<div id='finish'></div>
<div id='redCar' style='left:0;width:30;'>?</div>
<div id='silverCar' style='left:0;width:30;'>?</div>
<div id='pos3'>3</div>
<div id='pos2'>2</div>
<div id='pos1'>1</div>
<div id='pos0'>GO!!</div>
<div id='mc'>McClaren takes the lead</div>
<div id='fe'>Ferrari in front</div>
</body>
</html>

Nah, moving house, so missed the multidollar game of follow-my-leader this weekend.
Honestly, is it just me or does everyone these days just watch the start of each race as the rest of it is boring? |

Actually, I watched the whole race. Had a little hangover this sunday, and spending the afternoon on the couch in front of the race was just what I needed. Sure, it was boring as hell to watch them go around and around, but trying to get my feeble mind (and body) to do anything serious was just impossible...

A good remedy, alongside
darts bowls cricket curling and so on... isn't scary how hangovers and general summer laziness is a great teacher of the rules of such sports. When you're sitting in front of the TV watching bowls and casually say 'he needs to a backhand draw shot' then you know all is lost. |

Yes I too sat and watched the Grand Prix and then thought to myself, why the hell did I just do that.
I find myself sitting there murmuring the words 'Crash Schuey, Crash!'. I honestly thought at the start of the season that Coulthard and Montoya would have put up a better fight than they have done. ![]()

Well, you can't go wrong in a Ferrari...

Somehow one's beginning to wonder, whether those Ferraris are computer controlled or whether Schumi and Rubinho are some evil robots sent from outer space to destroy the sport of F1.

Unfortunately I think Schumacher is an excellent driver and he's up against some real crap. Coulthard has only ever appeared at the top when the McLaren was by far and away the best car, Montoya has found like Andretti and others that the CART->F1 switch isn't as easy as the opposing move, and Ralf Schumacher is good but not great. Other than that I can't really see any challenge other than car failure, and the Ferrari isn't going to do that in a hurry these days.

You're absolutely right about that.
Coulthard has never been much of a driver as Häkkinen and Räikkönen can beat him anyday. But it'll be interesting to see whether Michael retires after this season or not. I'd like to see Rubinho to take the title. Nowadays the gap between the top teams (I mean THE TOP TEAM) and the poor teams is too wide. I think by using some techical regulations one should shrink this gap (what would it be, dunno... more weight to car with every championship point, like in DTM)But all and all there are better sports but F1 is O-Keyish... - Miska |

Don't see why Michael would retire, he's got the years in him to get another few titles, and be on his own and unequivacally the best in F1. I think Hakkinen was good, but also benefitted from the car being far and away the best, when the pressure of an actual battle came he couldn't handle it. Raikkonen is also good, but the car situation is letting him down. The days when Prost,Mansell,Senna,Piquet,Berger et al were battling it out spoiled us really.
The worrying thing is that the cars are seriously regulated already but the gap still remains. Less teams, better planned circuits (can't remember where it was, but some track has just been extended and the new part has no overtaking possibilities), stronger regulations on the cars is what we need, weight handicaps is a good idea. The problem being that these teams want to win, it means serious money to them, so the good teams don't want to see their chance dented. Better sports, heaps of them..... |

But indeed it has been Michael himself who has flashed the opportunity of retiring after this season. BUT I think that's just a way to draw more media attention to him and ensure a fat paycheck.
Though how much fatter can his paycheck become??? |
