Question How Does CNET Get Manufacturer Info on Their Shopper Site?

I was wondering if anyone knew how CNET was getting all the manufactuter information onto their shopper system, such as this specs page:

http://computers.cnet.com/hardware/...88.html?tag=dir

Do manufacturers just have accounts and add their own products or is their some inventory software/etc that allows them to share information with companies such as CNET, or does CNET employ people to gather this information.

I'm curious because I wanted to setup a similar system for something else and I want to find a way to have manufacturers be able to list items with the greatest of ease. Most of them are not computer savvy

Thanks!

Mark

But would CNET employees just gather this information from the sites alone, or is there a system that allows them and other comapnies to gather manufacturer information from companies like Sony, etc? Also, what about smaller companies that have info, but no site to search through? That's the dilema I face sometimes.

Most likely, the vendors have to enter the information, as CNET gives them an opportunity to reach consumers and CNET would have no gain by entering that info (If they have no gain, they won't pay someone to do it)

I was thinking of doing that as well, but many vendors accidentally list their own info for things like part numbers, etc. My goal is to supply consumers with tons of product info like spec, etc as well as a method to find prices on those products.

Thanks,

Mark
