How often do you visit www.devshed.com?
Just curous how often people actually visit the actual Devshed site (www.devshed.com) instead of the forums. I've seen people posting lately that they weren't even aware that there was another part of Devshed outside of the forums.
I also like the new thread at the top of the forums that tells there was a new article posted. It reminds people like me to check for articles that are interesting and can inform newbies that there is another part of Devshed... So, vote and let's see what people think. ---John Holmes... |

Personally never.
I have looked at it once or twice but not ever used it as a resource.

I only visit the site when I want to (or have to) learn something new. Like if i should get into XML one day, it will be my primary resource for the start.
I used to visit it more than once per week, sometimes even several times per day though when I was starting out with web business. Today I like to point the newbies that found this forum via google to the "main page". Many donīt know that it does exist at all... M.

I visit and read about one or two tutorials a week, even if they don't apply to anything that I am doing. There is alot of good content in devshed.com that unfortunately alot of people seem to have missed. The tutorials have the basics laid out for you and give you the understanding you need to find the rest of your answers yourself.
Plus, some of the old articles are cool too. Especially the one about Al Gore inventing the internet. btw, Where did those Al Gore ads go? <idea> Why not add a popup menu in the post reply page for the forums that contains a list of all tutorials on devshed for quick replies to people who obviously haven't used the resources available right here? </idea>

The tutorials are the best php tutorials available on the internet. Melonfire provides good quality stuff and well worth the money that they are paid for their tutorials as they are a professional company; they also have some books on the market that is readily available - http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/A...5681104-8998446 - there is also another one by the same bunch I believe. EDIT::: You know I think it would'nt be a bad idea for the admins to pop in one more forum just dedicated to the article discussions. They have somewhat of discussions going on the articles on the main site but I think it would be a great addition to the community here. In addition, it would draw more people to the community while at the same time drawing more people back to the main site - the people that only think that the forums exist and vice versa. Think about it - if you go to google now and type any kind of PHP question, forums.devshed.com is in the top 10 almost on every question (alot of time in the top 5 occuring more than once) - so I suspect that there are quite a few users in the community now that only know of the community and not the actuall site.

I only visit it to learn new stuff, I owe everything to DevShed and Melonfire articles of course. The only thing that really pisses me off is the fact that the tutorials are divided by pages and the titles are totaly irrevelant. But after half an hour I usually find what I was looking for.

Moz on Linux by any chance? I have to browse most sites with Moz text zoom set to 120% to read them because I have my res up pretty high and Moz renders regular font text so small ![]() As for devshed.com - I tend not to read through whole tutorials. I like to pop into them and flip through a couple of pages, then go on to other tutorials But I'm weird - I peicemeal all of my stuff together from different resources so I can see if any of them give conflicting info. I must say though, I found the mod_perl tutorial pretty helpful, as well as the article series about app development. |

I rarely visit it lately. In the very beginning I used some of the tutorials to learn more about PHP but lately either I figure it out by myself or I search/ask in the forum. Sometimes I check it to give some newbie a link where to start though.
And I saw a lot of people in the poll visit it once a day or more often (40%)... uhhh???? Isn't that a bit often? ![]()
