Unhappy IE 6 Image downloading problem

Hi,
I have been using IE 6 for quite some time now but it has recently developed a problem. Whenever i try to download a picture from the net it gets saved only in bitmap format only, even if the picture itself is in jpeg format. I tried reinstalling IE6 but it did not resolve the problem. Please help. Thanx.

Hmm, interesting. Never noticed it, but the same thing happens to me. Must be Microsoft wants you saving in their format since bitmap is basically only used by Windows machines. Annoying.

Just in case other people have the same problem, but canīt solve it by erasing their internet cache:
The problem can be caused by other reasons too and is described in Microsoft Knowledge Base Article - 260650:
