IE8 Beta is out
Quick, call the white coats!
![]() Well guys, the newest edition to Internet Exploder is out. I found out just about an hour ago and was too busy to install it (too lazy). But I'm downloading it now and seeing what is to come of IE. Anyone else going to try it out? Just want to hear what you think.

Well... considering I still haven't wanted to torture my computer by installing IE7, I probably won't go with IE8 either... especially a beta. |

ie7 is nothing bad, really. Its actually par, as opposed to ie6 (apart from its 'everything everywhere wants to **** me over' attitude to security). I don't think the beta of ie8 is anything much to look at though, you want a bug free browser. Wait for the official release.

The beta has been out for at least a couple weeks now. I tried it for a few minutes, and here's what I found:

Whoa! Hold up. The rendering is not fixed. There will be many changes to it in future beta releases. IE8 beta 1 is rather buggy as many of the new CSS features are not yet complete, so making changes to web pages based on how it renders them is silly.

I will download and see, no doubt it'll be WORSE than IE7. I think ie7 turned me to firefox after facebook kept crashing on ie7. Why can't microsoft be normal and produce normal software? sigh

[edit] And what do you mean by "normal"? I assumed you're referring to security.

Microsoft make the products really odd, and custom to them and hence isn't that good in both efficiency, security....etc.

Not that I like Vista, but I don't think its UI is that bad. I think you're trying to say that nearly they everything they develop or co-develop is proprietary and custom-made, in which case you are correct. The answer to "why" is obvious: It allows them ultimate flexibility while locking in customers. |

I use Firefox, IE and Opera(Hey, doesn't all web developers?). I will definitely download IE8 once the initial problems are sorted out.
When it comes to the flashfactor, Opera is quite flashy, but sadly, has some rendering issues in gmail from time to time. Glad to hear IE8 comes with a developer toolbar, the one I installed on IE7 isn't bad, but I liked Firefox's one better. Vista in my opinion is cool, it's indexing function is very nice. Had problems accessing network drives in Dreamweaver though. |
