New member! New member! ![]() *ahem* I'm a 23 year old male, originally from California. I do photography and 3D art, and started learning HTML a good while back to build a page for my interests. I like shiny objects, I tend to bite when cornered, I laugh at jokes like 25Dec = 31Oct, and I have very little hair. I haven't any college but I work full-full-full time as I'm an active duty service member (been in about 4 yrs) currently deployed in Iraq. I got a laptop off of Amazon and had it sent out here to keep me sane. I've recently started learning php, java-script, and MySQL, and found DevShed while searching for one the answer to one of my many javascript questions. I've found myself strangely facinated by MySQL... anyone else out there like that? I use Pov-ray for computer art, and found the urge to build a database to sort the triangles of a mesh{} statement overwhelming, so I installed a copy of MySQL for NT... then Apache... then the php script interpreter. Anyway, it should make for easier learning, since I don't have to upload to test scripts. It's funny, since I sort of set out to learn C++ for the sole purpose of building a modeler for the GUI-lacking Pov-ray, and now I'm knee-deep in a php-MySQL project that will manage blog postings on my (now semi-abandoned) webpage... Oh yeah, does anyone else find themselves accidentally mixing syntax, then not being able to find the error since it *looks* correct to you?

alright, I shall introduce myself since I plan on becoming active on here. I'm a 23 year old female college student, working on my second associate degree, network specialist degree this time around. My first AS degree is in computer programming. I know Visual Basic (doesn't everyone?), Java, some C++, am learning C#. I'm TRYING to learn Linux, trying because my computer is very stubborn anymore. I'm origianally from Kentucky, now in Wisconsin, moved here to be with my boyfriend who i met online about 6 years ago. I'm having a very difficult time finding a worthwhile job (no one wants to hire someone with no real world experience), so i'm currently working at Sam's Club and looking for an internship for next semester (same problem as noted above). I build and work on computers in my spare time (we have 4 computers in this apartment) or else work on my website (plan on doing a complete overhaul on it soon). My other real interest is Nascar. I also like star trek, but am not as obsessed with it as i was when i was younger (no learning Klingon is not an obsession as my boyfriend tries to claim). Anyway, thats about it for me. That is who I am.

I am a 13 (DOB = 18/03/90) year old kid from Jersey, UK.
I play about with any comps and languages that i can get my hands on (exept perl , especially PHP! ) I currently do loads of PHP, SQL, JavaScript, XML and HTML (wow!), and i started it all with Basic I play a bit with Pascal, ASP.net, and some other things... I am learning C++ (haarrrddd :eek ![]() My parents are completely technology illiterate. My dad cant work a remote control, i set up all the TVs and Computers in the house. My uncle got a computer in '95 and i picked it up easy (i was 5!) i wanted to go and play on the computer every time i was in his house. I had to wait till i was 9 before getting a computer. My parents didnt know what to pick and got a time computer. It froze at least 11 times the first day, and 15 every further day. 3 years on from then, my comp finally started dying. It still works, but on my 13th birthday i got a brand new mesh computer. Really good for me! - I would have made my own, but my parents dont trust me to. Just this christmas, i got a laptop (also mesh)! Just as powerful as my desktop computer - quite noisy tho.My website is http://www.cwin.redirectme.net/ and i programmed it all except my forums (i am in the middle of reprogramming it all, thats why not much does anything and my forums are a different theme!) Other comp things i like are: Vid editing, Music editing, Digital Photography, Music creation (Midi keyb + cubase sx), the net!!, Macromedia Flash stuff, DVD authoring.... and more. Ummmmm, i do spend all my time on the computer except school. Even eating! There is a bit of a guy behind the geek too, i do like shooting stuff and fighting (proper fighting - martial arts and stuff) ... got about 3 friends.. ![]() My comps are: ::::::Newer Desktop::::: £1200 Sharp 17" LCD @ 1280x1024 2.8GHz Pentium 4 533mhz FSB 512mb PC2700 RAM Asus P4G8X Delux ATi Radeon 9700 SB Audigy 2 120gb Maxtor 7200rpm HDD Sony DVD-/+RW Read:32x R/RW:24x DVD:16x DVD-r/w:4x Creative InSpire 5.1 speakers *Had a lil bit of cheese with it in the past ::::::Laptop::::::: £999 15" Monitor @ 1400x1050 2.8GHz HT P4 800MHz FSB 256 PC2700 RAM SiS Motherboard (SiS648FX chipset) AC '97 5.1 audio 40gb HDD CD 32x R/RW 24x DVD 16x ATi Radeon Mobility M10 (9600) ** Very hot and noisy, i tend to underclock it to 2.1ghz for normal use Not one bug or problem yet.. not one freeze** ::::::Old Desktop::::::: £1400 500MHz AMD K6-2 (seems dodgey) 128mb RAM (bad) MSI MS-5191 - onboard ATi Rage gfx - onboard SB 64v sound 20gb Maxtor 5100rpm HDD (bad) Broken network adaptor Broken CD-RW Broken DVD *Stuff started breaking and failing before i even switched it on A note inside says it didnt pass its system tests and therefor shouldnt have been sold* Look which one cost the most! The lappy and newer desktop are linked on a 1gbps cabled network until i cough up £100 to get wireless adaptors for them both. MSN - microcamers@hotmail.com (im havin trouble replyin here!) |

heh you have mesh computer like me... mine is about 2.5 years old though and it was before I really got into building them...
I also had a mesh laptop but had so many problems with it's motherboard (long story, but I had about 3 replacements sent in total that were all messed) so I returned it and got a different one. computer |

For those not "in the know", MESH is apparently a brand of computers, i.e. Dell, Gateway....

all premade comps blow. they always manage to put in a cheap part. the ones wher eu choose parts dont count. =D

Exactly why I build my own. No better computer than one you build yourself with all the parts you want, that way you know whats in it and dont get jipped

actually, mesh computers are pretty good. can't remember the specs of mine as it is not my main pc anymore but they don't 'make' any of their own parts except the case, even the mouse/keyboard didn't have stickers on it...
but it had like WD HDDs, Athlon proc, mitshubishi (sp?) monitor, MS mouse/kb, toshiba cd-rw, etc... lasted me a good long time until i got the balls to make my own ![]() computer |
