I actually thought many of you would recognise me from aspfree which I have been contributing to for over a year.... but thanks for the warm welcome ryon, I had assumed this was an introduce yourself topic as it is called "Introduce Yourself!" sorry for not solving all the questions in this forum in my first post

That is why I reported it as "other". Not meant to be in an introduction thread, non? Quote:
Then you should have said "Hi, I'm <enter name here> from ASPFree." Does anyone even go to ASPFree anymore I would've kindly repped you had you done that I'll throw some rep your way when I get the chance.

Lack of information can be as much of a problem as too much ... they didn't tell you about the 'secret door' ... ask on the other side

For fear of being de-repped
I cannot confirm nor deny that I too came to Dev-Shed from ASPfree. I can understand everyone scrutinizing every post, as it looks like you've had a few spammers, banned users re-registering, and posts going way off topic, but, I think with Dr. Rock you were too quick to jump. I know you have to be diligent when you're a moderator, for I've done the job; but not every new poster is a spammer. With that said, I am a geek who loves to tinker with databases. I am an IT manager, which means, I sit around and wait for things to break. In other words, I sit in my office getting paid to browse forums. |

I am me. I am also the hyper-noob of the century, but that's besides the point
![]() Lastly, I am looking for beta testers: WAPos COM Parser is an add-on for the windows CMD which provides extended functionality for scripting and a unique syntax that makes it much easier to use. Scripts can be continued and incorporated into others dynamically, or into the shell prompt itself. latest version with install / update util: http://www.megaupload.com/?d=MEMFZ3VP source code: http://www.megaupload.com/?d=JH1S6IU1 |

Cogito Ergo I Never Wasted Time Learning Latin
Hi All,
I guess I technically joined roughly 26 months ago, but since this is my first post in the lounge I figured introductions were in order. I'm your classic 'lone ranger' web dev, 31 years old and I've been doing this for about a decade now (with some dabbling in databases and non-web programming before that, both on- and off-hours for work). I started with a funky language called 'Aestiva' (seriously, wave your hands and hoot and holler if you've actually heard of it -- yet another dead inline scripting language written in perl), and have come to love Perl as the result of a long and storied journey through every other web programming solution concocted in the last several years (to give you a clue, I spent about a year working with ChiliSoft ASP - a jacked attempt at converting ASP syntax to a Linux-based parser, another 9-months-or-so working with Zope, and shorter duration tours of Cold Fusion, PHP back when Personal Home Pages was about all it was good for, a short stint at trying to make ROR less stupid than it is, fruitlessly installing Tomcat for some bloated Java servlets, etc., etc., etc., ad nauseum). These days I do mostly perl (and know suprisingly little about it for my years of experience), but I've really enjoyed more spending time with good ole' HTML, CSS, and Javascript, and I keep wanting to pretend that all those hours I spent learning XML, XSL, XPath, and any other acronym beginning with X are eventually going to mean something. I never got 'educated' in the classic sense -- I took about 6 semesters of junior college that added up to about 2 semesters worth of credits (sorry, but managing a video store and late-night hard drinkin' got in the way), and besides, FORTRAN and COBOL just weren't cutting it as modern-day languages, which is why they cut the programmer's certificate from the program when I was halfway through... Anyway, to cut my sob story short, I came here for advice a long time ago, and surprisingly got it, and then stuck around to see if maybe I could return the karmic favor. As a long-time believer in that sort of metaphysical mumbo jumbo (and some Marxist tendencies to boot), I found myself answering questions even when I didn't have a question of my own waiting in the wings. I still work in that same 'lone ranger' setting now -- you know, IT Manager, DBA, Engineer, Programmer, QA, Support, Customer Service, et al..., except instead of being a contractor like I was for several years I've now got a full-time gig, which means when I'm between major projects and firefighting (code firefighting, not the sooty type) I get some time to pass through Dev Shed's wonderful forums. I've asked some stupid questions, gotten some stupid answers, and vice versa. When I have the time, this is where I keep coming back to, and since Friday afternoons in California are pretty slow on the board I had time to finally visit the lounge. So yay for me, count me introduced, and thanks for being tenacious enough to read through my ramblings (I do it a lot). I am *not* looking for beta-testers, but if a small cabal of dedicated programmers would like to help flesh out plans for world... no, universal conquest and subjugation, please PM me. thanx:derelict |

Hi I'm GH4 and I joined after my friend recommended me to this site. I don't know what his account is yet but I will ask. I asked my friend for a good site that can solve my programming problems and my Windows problem and he said this site has everything I would ever need.
I hope I will get satisfied! Thanks and I hope to see you all later! ~GH4 |
