Join a volunteer software development team?

    Hello All,

Let me introduce myself, my name is Ryan, i am 18 and on my way to college.
I have enjoyed designing, building, engineering and coding on various private
projects of mine over my high school years. I have C++, Java, and Python under my belt.
But i also love making web apps, using PHP. I love team work, and i LOVE to create.

Now i know there are other people out there with lots of talent, some with jobs already,
others with skills but needing some experience. So i thought to myself, what if i could
bring some of those people together in a no-stress, brainstorming development environment.
The power and outcome of a well-focused team of volunteers never ceases to amaze me.
Their in it for the passion, not the money.

If ANY of this sounds like you, or of interest to you.
Please let me know. I have a google groups but i can't post URLS.
So just let me know here and we'll see where to go from there.

I am looking for agreeable, intelligent people that are willing to work
in a volunteer environment for fun and experience.

    Thanks,
    Ryan

    Ryan

there are any number of projects open to volunteer developers on SourceForge.

It's a big commitment to start a new project, and manage the associated politics, timescales etc. A big commitment when it's as part of a job, much bigger when it's for free, because ultimately the passion doesn't pay the bills

    YMMV

Some people, when confronted with a problem, think "I know, I'll use regular expressions." Now they have two problems.
