Log Analysis Tools
Can anyone give a good recommendation for the most "comprehensive" web server log analysis tool? I've researched several ("Weblog", "Summary" and "Webalizer") and been impressed, but I'm sure there are others out there whom have more experience than I with this topic. Any suggestions you could give would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

It depends on cash... nettracker at www.sane.com is great if you got the monet (they do a 20% discount for non-profit companies), but its still a great package...
If you're looking for a cheaper one, as you mentioned weblog is good ![]() Jee

I'm currently writing a freebie one based on AW Stats which I have been using for over 2 years now.
I just think it's really good for giving a nice simple and to the point analysis of your traffic. Of course mine will have a few other features that I wanted that AW Stats doesn`t have, but you really can`t knock the script, highly recommended from me.

I use external ones like Webtrendslive but if you have access to logs ... Webtrends is best but it'll set you back by some $600 I believe

cliffyman,
i would recommend you try sawmill (www.sawmill.net) - its a very complex piece of software (only trialware) and you can "drill" deeper into your logfile than you can with a program such as analog, or with live stats tools such as web trends live or webalizer. its a 30 day trial and about 10mb in total, you can either run it within the cgi-bin (needs to be able to create files) or you can run it via its icon and it creates its own mini web server within iis where you can run it. it uses a database and a complex admin section to cross reference certain fields, the more fields you cross reference the more mining you can do, by fields i mean the fields that your logfile has recorded, e.g. ip address, referring url and so on. as you can see ive spent many an hour playing with these. ![]() Matt

Thanks everyone for your input! AWstats has proved very useful and I'll also be checking out Sawmill since it looks to be a very powerful tool. Once again, thanks all!
