Talking making free money (not a junk mail post)

This topic has no relevance to programming, but hey.

I was just thinking that it would be cool to start a post where every1 could tell eachother ways of making free money. I have one method so far, which is to buy a house from a loan, and let other people live in it, and repay the loan from the rent. Anyone else have any ideas?

How is this free? You should study some economics and management!

dammit, i thought i was getting good at economics, obviously not

but hang on,
surely after 15 years ull be a house richer, all u have to do is take rent and give it to the bank...
of course there are small things like wot if the rent is too expensive and stuff...
but i think its a good idea...

You can be:
- very young
- very stupid
what of the two?
Try considering some more variables, like interest rates, inflation, maintenance, your time ...
Why we do not live in a perfect world?

Only if it was that easy.

You would find ppl enjoying themselves at a beach with their GFs and not sitting on computer and posting a thread asking ways to make free money !!!!!

Actually this is a very common way to get into rentals. The problem is that you don't make any money until the property is paid for. What little income from the rent that might be left after paying the mortgage (plus some of your own, usually) has to go for taxes, insurance and upkeep, and saved for the mortgage for when the property isn't rented.

The trick is to buy property in an area where rental is high relative to real estate (college towns are an excellent example of this).

Don't let the naysayers put you off, just be VERY AWARE of what you are getting yourself into. There's plenty of risk and a lot of hard work (it isn't EASY money) but it can be lucrative, and after a time it will become easier.

BTW, if you don't have a good credit rating, you can pretty much forget about it.

Right said, Rod k!
dsm56, figure this: you are right for now, you rent the house and head to the beach ... but suddenly the mobile rings, a pipe has broke and the house is flooded, are you gonna stay on the beach? Remember that your earnings come from that house!
So you will end up being an manager of your rental business, and not a beach bum, and this in case of success!!!
Believe me, find out an interesting job and stick to it!
As a sail instructor told me "The worst day sailing is better than a good day at work" (for him at least).

What's not to like about beaches? Scantily clad views of the opposite sex? Actually is the biggest reason why I like it , that and if I am there then it must be warm. Hate the cold weather.

I just don't like warm weather much...I can't think when it's warm. I can't ski either tho, heh. I'd come along if I had a laptop to bring with me. Is this thread going offtopic?
