The only thing I've found Basic good for is propping my head up so I don't get whiplash when I fall asleep.
Oh wait.. we use a VB6 program at work.. it's good for:
1. Breaking the network connection
2. Crashing itself
3. Crashing other apps
4. Eating all the resources
5. Selfishly making it terribly difficult to share data with the outside world.
Actually, I absolutely REFUSE to do ANYTHING worth ANYTHING in ANY Basic language. The prof actually had th gall to tell one of the naive young students "Well, QBasic can do pretty much anything a language like Pascal or C or any of those languages can"...
Uh... WHAT? Yea.. right. Let's see someone program a socket server in QBasic... for Unix. Yea... that'll happen

I was NOT happy....
The problem is, the people they hire are all brainwashed M$ Monkeys. Almost all these profs here know is Windows and M$ languages. They've know clue how to do HALF of what we on this board would consider "the basics". One of my profs went on a rant one day about how VBScript is so much better than JavaScript because he hates the case-sensitivity. I might add that this is the same guy who couldn't adequately explain the difference between a method and a function, doesn't declare any of his variables, and doesn't terminate his lines with the semi-colon (big pet-peeve of mine)... almost anyone on this board could program circles around this wannabe M$ losers.
