the roots, blackalicious, mos def, greyboy allstars, DJ Krush, DJ Spooky, DJ Shadow, Herbie Han****, Frank Zappa, They Might Be Giants, The Beatles, Pink Floyd, Black Eye Peas, DJ Qbert, Led Zepplin, Lee "Scratch" Perry, Spearhead, Burning Spear, Beck, Deep Purple, The Skatalites, The Doors, Ursula Rucker, 4 hero, The Grateful Dead, Jonny Lang, Groove Collective, lots of dub, lots of first-wave ska, lots of roots reggae, and a smattering of "underground" hip-hop.
At least, that's what's mostly in my XMMS playlist, streamed from my MP3/OGG server. [admin edit] I've fixed the filter. [/admin edit] [admin edit] err... maybe not: Above is supposed to be Herbie Hanc-ock [/admin edit] Last edited by ZeUs : January 14th, 2002 at 06:33 PM. |

Hmmm, lets see here, let me list just a few that is in the current playlist I am listening to now:
Alice n Chains, Alien Ant Farm, Bush, Danzig, Days of the New, Flaw, Godsmack, Jimmy's Chicken Shack, Korn, Led Zepplin, Linkin Park, Mettalica, Megadeth, Nirvana, Ozzy, Pantera, Papa Roach, A Perfect Circle, Puddle in the Mud, Rush, Scorpions, Sevendust, Slipknot, Staind, Static-X, System of a Down, Tool, Offspring, Police Well, that's enough of that one. I listen to mostly hard, grunge, metal. But I also listen to classic, hip-hop, rap and techno. So it stays a wide range of music. |

Metallica has become Metallica$$, so it doesn't care the spelling.
When programming, I make some mixtures of eurodance and Iron Maiden, depending on the day.

At work I have to listen to the radio all day, which is pretty mind-numbing (pop) sometimes. At home I listen to a wide variety of music, mostly metal (Cynic, Death, Pestilence, Theory in Practice, Sadist) but also to Allan Holdsworth etc., and some rap. I don't really pay attention to the music when I'm programming though, but I notice it if it's bad music, which is just annoying.

Either:
Prodigy/Apollo440/Chemical Brothers/Leftfield or: R.E.M. or: Mix of stuff with Oasis/Suede/Blur/Blink 182 etc.. I really should record some more CDs up. Got a Napa CD thingy recently, plays MP3s on 8cm CDs. I'd reccommend it if anyones looking. You can get 6 hours on one CD and it's the size of a MiniDisc player. Not only that, but I can use the same CDs on the 'puter. Much more convenient than Solid State machines. |

Boybands are really irritating while programming...same with those semi-emotional R&B acts...disgusting.

It's in my profile:
Underworld, progressive, techno, hardhouse. I don't like listening to rock, metal or anything like it while programming. It's cool when I'm not, but I can't concentrate with rock, while the above brings me in to some sort of trance, and I start working with as many BPM as the music has. ![]() Quote:
They're not only irritating while programming. They're always irritating.
