Question need a zip code database

I'd like to start a PHP/MySQL website, but I need some sourt ouf database that includes zip codes, and their relative counties, states, and towns. A quick search on google brings up alot of sites that sell these databases, but of course I'd like to find one for free. Its seems that theres ALOT of websites out there that requires and uses such a database and it seems to me that there would be a couple avalible of the net for free.

Oddly enough, you can get that information from the census bureau. www.census.gov

The US Post Office has a web api that will let you search for city/state based on zip code. It might work for what you need. http://164.109.64.160/WebTools2.asp#addr
