Need naming suggestions for a knowledge base application
Hi,
I didn't find any other appropriate spots for this posts, so I'll just post it here in the lounge.. I'm currently working on a FAQ & Knowledge Base system made in php.. Q: What I need is name suggestions.. my mind is totally blank.. I was thinking about giving the system kind of a corporate profile, if you understand what I mean..Here's some more info about it: It's key features are: (not all of the features are done yet) - File Attachments - Keyword Searching - User Notes/Comments - Templates - Caching Here's a link to the current dev version: http://faq.webpixels.net Oh, and feel free to give me feature suggestions too ![]() (btw, if you were wondering, I've borrowed the Q's and A's from another site.. just need something to work with you know ) |

How about "funkalicious bootytronic webalization tool"
Too corporate sounding? The problem with naming these things is the obvious ones are taken. . . Google is your friend here, but all the searches I did turned some sort of application up already. |

Here is a trick I use to come up with names. Use word or another word processor and keep checking the thesaurus for variations on words.
EX: Turn search in to hunt and then turn knowledge into data. Try DataHunt (already taken), etc.. I hope this helps & good luck, Scott

I have a neat naming strategy, based on hashing..
you know when a hash is created, the machine uniquely scrambles the data so it doesn't have to index through stacks of info - it knows exactly where to find it in memory, because it regenerates the same hash whenever a search/request is made. This unique hashing method allows for much faster retrieval. I rekkon our brains work in a similar way - albeit just by analogy So hash hash hash and it'll stick. For example, which are the easist domains to remember? evilwalrus, roaringpenguin, flipdog, yahoo - all completely unrelated to their topical spheres (er apart from the penguin thing). But so easy to remember, innit christo

Well, it brings back memories of dBase for me, which makes me think of an old-school, somewhat crippled pre SQL database program.
Honestly, I always liked dBase, but being meta-associated with it may not be a positive thing for most folks that know dBase. . . |
