Question .NET, Apple and I

I'm looking to probably purchase a PowerBook. MacOS X intrigues me, but I haven't a clue on how good of a development platform it would be especially since I mainly write C#.

I know of the open source alternative to .NET is DotGNU, but I haven't used the DotGNU framework before. Is the DotGNU framework as good as .NET's, or is it full of holes?

Thumbs up time will tell...

Deff,

Check out:

They have an interpreter for the PPC platform but I think you may have to install Linux on it first. Microsoft will probably never extend .NET development tools to the Apple camp, but I am sure some open source movement will bring Apple into the game.

Why did you go for C#?

It's object orientated and I don't have to recompile programs to work on Linux and Windows. And I hate Java.

fair game

Fair enough - there's a C# forum at http://forums.devshed.com/f56/s

Don't know if you've been there, but you might get more info there. Also, Microsoft have pretty broad forum comunity at http://www.microsoft.com/communities/default.mspx

Have fun!

I got emailed the latest copy of Software Development Times earlier today. They had a couple of articles on Mac OS/X development that you might be interested in reading:
