The new sidebar that's been added to these forums is horrible!
![]() Not only does it not really match in with the rest of the board, at 800x600 (out of my control) it creates ugly horizontal scroll bars... am I the only person that really dislikes the new bar? ![]()

I dont really care about them. I mean if main page has links to forum, why wouldn't forum have links to main page? Yeah, 800x600 make it look little ugly, but what is really annoying is broken link(s) on ads...

Sounds logical. But why put the links at the side instead on top or bottm? Quote:
You actually click on ads?

>>But why put the links at the side instead on top or bottom?
Heh, imagine scrolling extra half-a-screen just to see first category in the forum list - sound like fun, doesnt it. Or if they were on bottom, would anyone ever see them? I mean only about month ago I discovered there is link to devshed down there somewhere - meaning I dont ever scroll all the way down. >>You actually click on ads? heck yeah I click on ads all the time if it helps someone somehow related to devshed. I mean, wouldn't you want your visitors to click time to time to get some extra cash to pay for hardware and stuff? I know I would. C'mon guys, give 'em a brake, on 800x600 links hardly mess up the screen and that scroll bar isn't something scary and we can live with that, can't we? Of course, downside is that we see exactly the same list 'new on devshed' for about month or so, but that is compiltely another story ![]() |

It does look uglier (i'm on 800x600), though it doesn't really bother me much..

I just saw it for the first time today, I was immediately looking for the close button as I thought it was a popup! Two things, one being that yes it's ugly, and two being that it is probably ugly because it's not what you're used to. Give it time and you'll hardly notice it's there.

To tell you the truth, I didn't even notice it at first
![]() But yeah, maybe it looks crappy in small resolution, but hey, nothing is perfect. Basicly I can understand the consept of putting ads on the site and links from forums to the main page. But the thing still is kinda ugly, but I think we'll bear with it. The small resolution problem can be corrected by choosing a bigger one, which is basicly favorable anyway 'cause most sites build their pages to 1024X800, and any user with smaller with get somewhat crappy looking site. Also if you think of it, the extra banner doesn't really fit anywhere else on the page. On bottom of the page, it wouldn't be worth the customer's money who paid to get their add here, and on top it would certainly make us scroll further. On the side, it shouldn't bother that many people. I hope though that there won't be any more adds on the sidebar ![]()
