    I have a question on this new 'reputation' scale.

    Are the points supposed to be coming from the new users who post questions for help (e.g. that helped! thanks!) or from forum regulars?

    The reason I am asking is because if the former, a new visitor may have no idea to do this, or how, unless of course we all start putting those 'If you liked this increase my rep [scales pic]' lines in our signatures.
    If your question has been answered, please finish out your thread with a post on what worked. It helps future people searching for answers and doesn't leave those helping you wondering.

    Did I help? Consider adding to my reputation (Click on the above).
    You ended that sentence with a preposition!

    For whoever is considering the reputation briefing;

    The 'reputationing' can seem like an open polling, or commenting system to the uninitiated, as in users can add comments to a particular post in a thread that are either in agreement or disagreement with the post, not with the intention of either improving or disimproving the credibility of the poster. I appreciate that's not what it's been built for, but it might benefit from a more variable scale where the middle ground doesn't affect the reputation standing;

    1- agree with poster, up their rep
    --------------------------------
    2- agree with post(er), don't up their rep
    3- just a comment
    4- disagree with with post(er), don't down their rep
    --------------------------------
    5- disagree with poster, damn them

    It might be more self explanatory, Just a thought

    Any chance it could be made to accept smillies, or is that asking too much?

    How much Rep do you have to 'spread around' before being able
    to agree/disagree with someone again?

    Are you sure? I got a grey one and the comment was completely blank. I think it put my total reputation points up, but I'm not aware of how mods/admins can assign hidden reputation points.

    It sort of does already. The reputation bit in the control panel shows the simlies, but they're still displayed as non-smilies next to the post.

    no I was flicking between 2 test accounts, one is a full access user and ones is just a registered member. Don't worry it's fine, I'm not cheating.
