no post no video

I know this is pretty late in the game but I had the same problem, no video no post. New asus p4g8x deluxe MB radeon 9800 pro vid
480 watt ps and 2 sticks of kingston 256meg pc2100 ram. The fans run MB has it's led lit tried 3 different agp cards, tried different cpu and had the MB replaced. STILL no video.
Turns out the asus MB only supports pc2100 unbuffered ecc or non ecc mem. Guess what was givin to me by mistake pc2100 reged ecc or another words buffered. I guess this will keep the MB from giving a error message because the ram isnt bad just wrong. Needless to say I exchnged the ram and all is well, hope this helps someone in the future. I saw every post saying replace the cpu or MB or bad ram or your video card etc etc but no one thought to check memory for buffered or unbuffered support. Email me back some time, Id love to here if this helped or how you fixed your problem.

Sorry don't recall the thread but the user was building a new p4 system and when he or she booted up for the first time, got no video or beeps. The motherboard led was lit and several all the gear had power just no post message or video. I tried all the things that troubleshooters do, replace swap push etc but nothing worked until I realized the asus p4g8x deluxe does not support registered ecc mem. It has to be unbuffered ecc or non ecc mem to work. This is an easy oversite if you pull the mem and try it in a different system that supports buffered mem. You think the mem is ok and move on to something else. Not that I realized I had buffered mem in the first place just bad luck that the MB I used to test the mem supported either buffered or unbuffered. Started thinking that the problem was somewhere else. Sorry about the thread just remeber several people having the exact same problem. This may or may not fix there problem but it's worth looking into.
