Just in case any of you folks thought I was kidding when I said that Notepad crashed out on me a few times....
How pathetic is it when NOTEPAD crashes (although, the best thing I ever saw was a Task Manager dialog that listed itself as not responding That was a classic!) |

Hehe... that's still not as bad as the last Internet Explorer bug. It was found that you can crash any Microsoft application using the MSHTML renderer simply by leaving out the "=" in a form element, such as <input type text>. (try it -- tastes good
).

Yeah. I've had Explorer.exe throw some problems my way (not IExplore.exe). That system had some sever problems. Only a hard-drive sacrifice fixed that one. Explorer.exe crashing tends to take down the whole os...

I found the bug in Win95 funny where you could close the start button. Would actually cause it to disappear and there as no way of getting it back

The error comes fom the common dialog ocx. So either it's corrupt
or whatever. Is this just happening when you open or save a file? My current MS horror story is there is a folder on my desktop that has a trailing period in it's name (inn.) Since this is not recognized as a proper file/folder name it cannot be deleted (or created but who knew). So there it sits...It has for the last 6 months. |

Heh... inn. should have been changed to inn (no extension) when it was created. Wonder how that happened? It must be time to upgrade! And, actually, notepad didn't crash, I just couldn't save the file. I just copied the text and pasted it to a new document after restarting notepad. As for corruption... I've just come to accept that about 2/3 of Windoze files are corrupt the instant they hit the CD, so it's not worth worrying about anyway
. Don't forget Solitaire. After all, Windows is a very good platform for the gaming community you know. |

Heh, computer, that link is great.. some of those pictures are just hilarious.
However, it is a little bit misleading.. about 99% of those "crashes" aren't Windows crashes, but Windows App crashes. That is the result of poor application programming, that doesn't mean that the system itself isn't stable, it just means that when there are languages like Visual Basic out there -- every Joe out there thinks he is a software developer, which leads to ****ty code. I still think Windows XP, itself as an operating system, is a good piece of code, and I haven't had any problems with it to date. I also use RedHat 9, and I think that is also a good piece of code.. they both have advantages and disadvantages. |
