Post Of Interest To FP2000 & Perl Users

This thread will really only be of interest to FrontPage users who also use perl.

I have a script here that I wrote which replaces the FP2000 Find feature when the "All Pages" option is selected. It is command line only, but well documented and easy to use. It does whole word searches, case-insensitive, and displays stats at the end (all three of those are switch invoked options).

On a PIII, 733Mhz Compaq running WinNT4.0 with 128MB of RAM it searched 2626 HTML pages (avg. about 6K per page) in 2 minutes and 21 seconds. At the time, however, MS Outlook 97, MS Access 97, and MS FrontPage 2000 were all opened, so you may be able to pull better results than that. FrontPage took almost 7 minutes to do the same thing, plus when you're using the script you don't need to tie up FrontPage

If anyone is interested in grabbing the script just reply to this post. I've noticed there are a couple of other people here unfortunate enough to be stuck with FP lately, so maybe this will help ease the pain If I get enough responses I'll get my lazy butt around to popping it out onto a site for download, but for now I suspect the demand is kind of narrow so I'll just e-mail it
