operating costs of devshed?

If you don't mind me asking, how much does devshed cost to maintain every year? Is it profitable?

Well they said recently in another thread that if it hadn`t been for the sale of another web site they own then DevShed wouldnt be here. So I guess it's not that profitable.

Yea, I saw that which is why I am asking. Was it just a few bad years? Or has devshed never been profitable?

If it never has been profitable I think that sucks! and we should put are minds together to find a way to at least make it break even (without going ad crazy). Devshed is a great place for programmers to resort too, its friendly and most of all...I LOVE YOU GUYS ::Cryingface:: (you guys should add that face)...just my 0000000000.02

forums.2cpu.com added a new vertical banner add at the right side, that sucks.

We're doing ok, and we're trying not to go "ad crazy" like you say so we can avoid annoying popunders, etc. We've kept our heads afloat, but we'd always like to do better. Thanks for the concern, but I don't want to start a charity auction or anything

Maybe just a small "donate" button would be cool, that way people can give money if they feel like it. At the moment they dont have the option to do so

Oh and i wouldnt notice if you used popunders since I have Mozilla and have that turned off I also do give the banners a click when i get the chance... dont know how much it helps though

B'ah, I just click on the ads every once in a while and accepted that DevShed send me advertisements in my mailbox too, nothing anoying.

Devshed is a corporation but helps the community a lot so I guess they deserve a little help too.

We don't do pop unders at all. The only window we pop up is a little ad to subscribe to our newsletter the first time you come to the site.

We do have one ad in a newsletter every once in a while.

slight correction

We do have some popunders on the plain text forums archives at forums.devshed.com/archives.

In the "normal" site we don't do them. Most of us won't ever see them.

You might want to speak to the contact you have listed for advertising, I sent them an e-mail yesterday enquiring about a standard banner campaign and I still havent heard back from them.

I'm sorry but I dont think it sucks... I just had a look, and it isn't obstructing in any way, and if it helps them maintain the site, well then we should just click the banners instead of complaining!

But then again I'm on ADSL and I dont have problems with download time...
