pc hardware, changing hard drives
I have an old computer, not sure how old (about 1998), but it can handle almost any 1998 game =). I ran out of memory. and would like to change hard drive.
I was wondering, how to choose a hard drive, or are they all the same? I looked in device manger>drives, it says "GENERIC IDE DISK TYPE 47". Thanks |

In lameman terms - get ibm deskstar120gxp of about 40gbs. Should be enough for you. Or maxtor's DiamondMax Plus D740X.
Whoever wants to flame on selection - feel free to do so, but I didn't want to go in all tech specs of each.

I recently bought a Maxtor 6L080L4 80GB drive. Runs on liquid bearings, so it's really quiet. It runs a little hot, but I've been very happy with it, and it was a good deal price-wise. Got it off of www.newegg.com
