Pronunciation
I went for a job interview the other day, and was talking about some of the languages I've used. Now, here's the thing...
The bloke wanted to know what I was like with SQL. OK. I let him know, and might get the job yet - find out in 2nd interview. But when he said SQL, he pronounced it 'squeal' (like a pig).
I've always prounced it phonetically like ES-Q-EL
Any feedback?
Cheers

I would go with S -- Q -- L, just like in alphabet

Seriously, it's just common sense (it ain't CQL, is it?) and a little knowledge of english pronunciation, so obviously that guys lacks one of those, and you shouldn't bother working for such ignorant

AFAIK,
A lot of ppl prononuce SQL as Sequel. I myself sometimes use Sequel. a lot of good books on SQL have pointed this out.
so i dont think the fellow was ignorant or something.

that...was...a ...joke...sort of....though it didn't come out funny....
I konw may ppl pronounce it sequel, it is just first thing that comes to mind and then sticks there. Also I wouldn't suggest anyone not to take job just because boss doesn't know how to say a word - because he is boss and he doesn't have to know everything adbout everything. He just has to know when to write out a check
