Question PW protect win 98?
Is there a way to pw protect your comp on startup? So the first thing it does is ask you for a pw? Or even right before windows loads would be fine. Thanks in advance.

If its possible to move to Win 2k do that. It has that feature built in.

Otherwise Try a software called Sentry.
It would do that for you.

You can do some policy edit and stuff.

But that too is not 100% secure.

Thats why You need third party application.

If we're still talking about "right before windows loads":
What about using the BIOS "user password" feature? If you don't have any OSs you want to leave unprotected by the password, this should work.

Aye, the BIOS password protection is more secure than the windows one. Though the only real secure method is to take the hard drive out! You can get lockable HDDs or lockable power supplies. Why not go one step further, if you've got a computer with a side opening case then it doesn't take long to wire something up.
