Question Question about web spiders and image maps

On my splash screen (initial web screen; dont know if splash screen is common web lang or my own) there is an animated gif that consists of three buttons. I need to put invisible hot spots over top the gif to pop up three seperate drop down menus. It works ok but I don't know if when a web crawler/spider comes to the site that it will be able to see the links and crawl the rest of the site? If anyone has the answer could you please let me know. Thanking in advance, pixelj
