Have you setup a default gateway or a proxy address?
Or are you using some XP firewall rules? I haven't set up Gaim so I can't/won't im you... //NoXcuz

well no XP firewall rules but here is what i see is a problem .. after playing around a little more. I cant access certain sites through any of my compters in the house. Either it is a router problem or ISP problem. I am about to disconnect my computer and connect it directly to the cable modem instead of the router and see what I get.
edit: SAME PROBLEMS even after connecting directly to the cacble modem as before. I am going to have to call up the ISP i guess now.. guess i was too quick to post.. should have trouble shooted it first before posting.. Last edited by Shocka : July 20th, 2002 at 05:21 PM. |

What about your DNS settings?
Can you reach the sites using their IP address instead of their domain name? //NoXcuz |

I had a similar problem with IE6 after "upgrading" to it. I would be able to open a page in Opera, but IE6 wouldn't even attempt to resolve the DNS for me before it gave me the DNS error page. Unfortunately, I never did get it working properly. I attempted to change various settings, updated Windows / IE and even went to the ultimate step - registery editing - all to no avail. Finally, I just scrapped IE altogether and now I only keep it around in case I get to a site that has scripts that Opera won't run properly.

That still doesn't explain why it works when trying from My Computer and not from plain ie.
To me this definately looks like an os issue.
