Referral program – Feedback requested

Hi,

My name is Michele and I work in the marketing department of Wells Fargo’s Internet Payment Division. I recently convinced my boss to implement a referral program created specifically for web developers. The program provides you with cash incentives to sign up prospective clients up with Wells Fargo Online Payment Processing services.

Since I am not a web developer myself, I would really like to get your feedback about what you think of our overall referral program, the cash incentives being offered, and the reward gift ($100 gift certificate from Amazon.com) for signing up and activating your first account by January 30, 2003.

If you have some time, could you visit our web site at: hhttp://www.wellsfargosecure.com/wdp/?wdc

If you have the time, please feel free to email me your thoughts regarding the program.

Thanks in advance for your help.

Regards [and be nice],

Michele Zenor

Hi Michelle,

Well, I certainly would be happy with a gift certificate to Amazon , and there's nothing wrong with a referral system.

I think a better place for this post would have been the Web Hosting section. If you want, you can ask Zeus, the moderator, to move it there.

Other than that, I really don't know what to say. What does Wells Fargo offer that would convince me or my customers to stop using Verisign or Authorize.net directly?

Also of interest to me would be some technical info about Wells Fargo's internet operations. It looks to me like the main https://www.wellsfargo.com/ server is Netscape Enteprise server; would my customers' transactions be running on that server, or on some other Unix-based server, or on a Windows server? (I prefer not to trust my transactions to Windows servers)

Hi Michelle,

The referral program looks okay. How long will it take for you guys to process my inquiry? I have a few clients that are looking to start taking credit card transactions in the coming weeks.

Feel free to email me directly if you wish.

Thanks,

Matt Stuart

Hello Rycamor,

Sorry that I didn’t get back to you sooner.

I was able to find the answer to your technical question. The payment gateway is on a Unix-based server, and the customers' server can be either Unix or Windows.

As for your question regarding what differentiates us from Verisign and Authorize.Net...we bundle Internet Merchant Accounts with the gateways and other services, which allows us to get cheaper pricing. Because we are such a large company, we are able to get wholesale prices and can pass some of the savings on to our customers.

So, yes you could go to Verisign or Authorize.net, (usually for your gateway needs) but their pricing would be retail pricing and usually higher than ours for the bundled services that we provide.

I hope this answers your questions.

Regards,

Michele

Matt - I apologize for not answering your question yesterday.

Since you haven’t mentioned it again, I’m assuming a WF representative got in touch with you. We usually can get you up and running, if you are approved, in about a week.

Please feel free to let me know how it went or if you have any other questions or concerns.

Have a great weekend.

Regards,

Michele
