Ruby: Thoughts on this great OOP lang?
Hey'a,
I have just started experimenting with Ruby, http://ruby-lang.org, and it strikes me as a very powerful, very easy to use language thanks to its purely OOP config that makes C++ look like babysh*t in comparison. It works so well without having to delve into extreme complexity, and beyond that, it actually runs quickly for a scripting language, or ever for a compiled language at times. I haven't pushed it too far yet, but it's one of the few scripting languages I have seen that come with samples making use of OpenGL demos.
So, who else has tried Ruby, and what are your thoughts? Do you think it will ever hit the mainstream outside of Japan enough to make it a language worth placing on your resume?
