safe mode on server
my hostnig has safe mode enabled. I can request the disabling of it but I'm not sure of the benefits and disadvantages of it.
Could someone fill me in with all of the + and - or having safe mode enabled on my hosting plan? |

I guess this is referring to PHP's Safemode... if so then you can read the PHP manual
http://au.php.net/manual/en/feature....sect.safe-mode |

I asked mine to do this safemode thing and yes they would turn it off for the skinning, never did do a skin job though.....

If you're on a virtual server, you want safe mode installed. It will protect your files from being read by other people's PHP scripts, among other things.

So what are the downsides to having safe mode enabled?
