Search engines and special charachters
I understand that Google spiders dynamic pages but many other search engines do not.
Which of the special characters below are search engine un-friendly? (Which characters make a page look dynamic?) _ - + = ? & I want to know if I can name my static html pages things like Joes_page.html Joes+page.html Joes-page.html Joe's-page.html etc. |

Those are all fine... really, what some search engines choke on are URL's w/ variables, such as:
Everything from the '?' onward is ignored by some SE's. However, seeing as Google accounts for 35% to 40% of search activity, and Yahoo accounts for 35% to 40% of search activity (keep in mind, Yahoo is powered by Google), since 70% to 80% of the SE market is 'covered', the issue w/ dynamic URL's may be largely over. ![]() |

If you also want to be successfully spidered by other search engines than goole, you should not use any of them besides "-" and "_". And make sure all your pages have ".html" extension.
