setting up a server questions
i am trying to setup apache on one of the computers on my cable network. i dont have a domain name, i just want people to be able to access it via the ip address(its a "practice" server). so i setup my router to expose that computer to the net and put it in the DMZ. the problem( i think) is that my router does NAT for my computers, so what happens is that all my computers get the same external ip address i believe. now normally everything works fine w/o apache running, but when i run apache it "steals" any inbound traffic that is destined for other computers on my network, effectively blocking all the rest of my comps from the net. does anyone know anything else about his and how i fix it?
ps. i wasnt sure what section this belonged in, so if it's wrong one forgive me ![]()

Some routers have the ability to map different ports to internal ip addresses. I have mine setup so Port 80 and some others are mapped to an internal ip address that is my linux server. This way, any requests to those specific ports go directly to the box I specify.
Look through your router's interface for an address mapping utility.
