Question Site critique please...

Hi

I've been asked to critique this site for a friend, but thought I'd come here for other opinions.

www.toniqr.co.uk

Please feel free to rip it apart if necessary(!!), because I'm just after some feedback for a mate!

Cheers guys
Alex.

I am not a fan of 100% Flash sites. Flash should be used as an enhancement to websites and HTML, not a replacement. Not everyone has Flash and it makes the site harder for disabled people who may be using 'text to speech' programs since those programs commonly are not able to 'read' Flash text.

Yep, I will have an attack....

The photographic images were not very good quality.

He is using a hotmail account and two freebie services at the bottom of the page which make it look very amatuer ish.

The text in various areas was too hard to read, dark on dark is never a good idea.

The scroller annoyed me because I couldn't move it myself and I expect to be able to move any scroller if it is used.

In fact I will change that, as I look through the site even more those images are just getting worse and worse.

In all honesty I can't say I was very impressed. I'm with a.k in my view on all flash sites, but when I do visit one I expect to see a lot more.

HTH

Brilliant, cheers!

See, the thing is my mate won't listen to me, even though I work with websites every day, so I'm sure glad that you guys are backing me up!

Kill the enter page. let users go straight to the content that they came for.

Put the navigation bar items on the left side vertically. Give the navigation bar one background because that is an instant visual cue that the navigation bar items are related, but be sure to clearly seperate them within that group with a small (around 16x16) icon or a buullet point. Clearly indicate which is the active page by making the corresponding navigation bar item bolder and a little larger than the other navigation bar items.

Rather than having a corny sound play and lines going over a navigation bar item when the cursor is placed on it, just brighten the navigation bar item and make it a little more (about 5%) red than the other navigation bar items.

Take better advantage of the browser windows' size.

Have a more consistent layout and appearance.
