Yeah, it certainly allows you to perform things that most of us can actually perform in real life, but without the real life consequences. Maybe that's why there's some controversy around it. Oh well, I've been playing for hours and I have no inclinations to repeat the game in real life.

I've been playing Morrowind off-and-on the last few months, and that's pretty cool. I also highly recommend the No One Lives Forever games -- probably the most pure fun I've gotten from a game in a really long time. I like the Total War games, too, but you've gotta strap in for a pretty long 'n' involved experience, so I've got to be in a certain mood...

I'm more excited by what's scheduled to come out later this year than anything I've seen recently, though, especially Doom III and Warlords IV.

morrowind was sweet, and along with counter strike was directly responsible for a decline of at least .5 in my gpa in college this year

Doom III will be sweet and damn creepy, even in the buggy alpha it was awesome. half life II will be even better though i think, with the materials modeling and other cool new stuff.
Halo II will also be great.
Of course, i no longer game much at all, due to the aforementioned gpa hit, but who knows how long my willpower will last?
