Stock quotes
I'm wondering what's the most stocks that people like to look at on the first page? Example @ www.nasdaq.com where it displays Nasdaq, djia, S&P 500, Nasdaq-100 on first page.
So far i have DJIA, Nasdaq, S&P500, NYSE, AMEX, & Russell 2000 on my first page. I would like to add some more but i don't know which stock people are interested. |

I'm sure there are some kind of reports somewhere. Google it, I wouldn't be surprised if the government or large company did these kinds of case studies.

If you're aiming at real investors, you could include some international markets, like the nikkei and the DAX.
Also, you could add some other industry indexes (Dow has indexes for airlines, pharmaceuticals, and others, besides the famous DJIA). You could also have futures market quotes for when some markets are closed. A list of the days most active issues could be good too. Schwab has a couple indexes as well. Thats about all I can think of. A link to look up individual stocks would be the last touch. HTH Dave |

Pretty much any real investor will have a stock ticker from a feed provider.

Not necessarily. Many will, particularly if they do any daytrading (:P), but for people who do research and buy and hold at home (not professionals), a real-time ticker would not be worth the expense.
I guess the usefulness of the page will depend on who tommy916 is targeting. |

it's not a big deal. I just want to display which quotes (about 10 to 15) is useful for visitors to come to the page and check it out. It's a real-time quotes coming from Yahoo database. www.msn.com displays only 3 quotes on first page. But for me, i want to display 10-15 quotes but i don't know what are good. msft, intl, nke, blah..blah... i already have 6 so far as i stated above.

You want particular stocks? It sounded before like you wanted indexes and such, and I have listed half a dozen you didn't have. If you want stocks, then do something like the day's most heavily traded issues, and the top winner's and losers by industry, as infamous41md suggested.
Listing a static list of 10 stocks or something is not the best way to go, it is already very easy for people to look up their stocks, so don't bother trying to guess what they want, just let the most active stocks show what people are interested in that day. |
