Thank Lord for command prompt!

Sure, I'm only talking about the DOS command prompt, but it can be a saviour when we encounter Windows' wrath. For example, when I try to delete media files after I played them (having closed the media player), I always get "File is in use, can't delete" messages. So how do I counter this stupidity? Go into the dos prompt and use the DEL function. In less than 2 seconds I have completed a task that required shutting down the computer and restarting.

COMMAND LINE FOREVER!!

I have an even worse case with my home machine:

It used to be that I would use your way too. But for some weeks (I de- and re-installed some codecs), this does not work anymore either.
Now i do:
ctrl-alt-del, kill "explorer.exe", start "cmd.exe", delete the movie, re-start explorer.
Also, explorer is eating memory like hell, after a few days it goes up to 200-300MB.

I am not asking for help, (please donīt post any). If I wanted to solve it, I would. But due to lack of time, I have resigned and accepted that this is the way that will be "default procedure" from today on. Itīs windows...

If I had to choose between cmd.exe and Windows Explorer (formerly known as File Manager in windows 3.1, which is still what I refer to it as), I would still choose Explorer, because cmd can get pretty messy with a lot of data to display, and Explorer is highly customizable. But man, I always go in CMD to create directories and do various findings. It's just faster and more reliable.
