I'd like to reacquire my previous car (fire-engine red BMW 3 series) and I would modify it by putting an enormous wing in the back and a "Powered by Nihon" sticker and a type R logo. Oh, and yellow stripes too. Reason: just to p*ss off one of my friends who takes BMWs way too seriously .
I was actually planning to do some of that to it when I got my current car, but my wife (then girlfriend) made me sell the BMW before I got the chance to modify it.
Question: Last movie you saw and what did you think about it? (good, bad, meh, was dragged into it by my SO and fell asleep etc.)

I just re-watched Karate Kid. I like how Mr. Miyagi got the kid to do all of these chores around the house, building muscles and technique, while the Kid thought he wasn't learning a thing.
I had intended to watch it with my 11-year-old but he said "Dad I've already watched this", and went off to do something else. I finished watching anyway.
My question, the thing that bothers me the most about traffic patrols is they always seem to be out for speeders (and I don't mean 30+ over but any little bit) because it is easy for them to do rather than actually patrol about and get people for other violations. Do you find that in the area where you live, and what actual violation bothers you more that the police not actually ticket people for. My area people seem to blow through stop signs and turns on red lights. I think that's far more dangerous than going over an arbitrary speed limit by 10 miles an hour.

In the bay area the police are too busy to bother with speed traps very often. Some people complain about red light cameras but I'm more in the "don't drive like an idiot and it won't be a problem for you" camp. There's DUI checkpoints on the typical drunkard holidays but that's usually all I see. What I'd like them to enforce more often are bicycle rules. We've had one pedestrian killed in San Francisco a month ago by a cyclist blowing a red light and another was seriously injured around the same time. Riding on sidewalks is a problem (especially when there's a clear bike lane) and many don't even slow down for red lights or stop signs. Give 'em tickets. I'd even favor licenses for urban cycling. </rant>
So ... um ... describe a recent meal you enjoyed. Doesn't have to be fancy or expensive, just good!

I'm Irish, but I'm living in Shanghai, China for a (very) little while. A few weeks ago my folks came over for a visit and we went to a Sichuan restaurant that a friend had recommended. Food was great (Sichuan stuff is spicy) and it was accompanied by a guy who performed a traditional mask dance whereby he prances around to some music and switches different masks onto and off his face throughout. Thing is that he does it so fast you've no idea how he's doing it. Most enjoyable.
Question (also motivated by what I'm seeing here): Where have you been that you experienced the craziest traffic? I don't mean just the busiest streets, but the place where drivers/pedestrians/cyclists seem to get away with the most ridiculous/unsafe things?

Chicago, Ill. I've seen all the dangerous high-speed things you can in that city. I've seen two pick-up trucks racing each other and passing around the regular traffic on the shoulders at 90+ MPH. I've seen someone going 100+ on highways where the speed limit is 45.
What is the TV show/movie/book/etc. that you wish more than anything could be real and you living a part in it?

Haha. FTL travel, the amazing technology, so many cultures to learn about, highly advanced medicine and government, etc. Hmmm, a nerd can dream, right?
I'm soon going to be inheriting my dad's 2004 Camry. I like that it's very responsive in terms of controls, but its radio/jukebox system is a bit underwhelming. What was your first car? Was there anything you particularly liked/disliked about it?

That's a question that has more than one answer (at least for me)
First car that I learned to drive on was my parent's Standard Motors car (which was a Triumph clone). Here's more history on that brand, in case you've never heard of it. Yes, it was the same skyblue color as the one in the picture. Had a horrible transmission and made a noise like a piston-engined airplane. Sister hogged that car most of the time, so I never really got to drive it much, but it was the first car that I learned to drive on and hence something special. And until Suzuki entered the Indian market, this thing was the fastest accelerating vehicle on four wheels for that time (as the remaining car models that were available in India in the late 80s were crappy models from the 50s ... the joys of a protectionist country with government owned industries).
[edit]I'm uploading a picture of my kid brother, my older sister and I in front of our beloved car. I'm the geek in the middle[/edit]
First car that I bought by myself was a second hand 1994 dark green Toyota Tercel 4-speed manual transmission. I had barely started working full time, so I economized on the car. Therefore, it had no AC or power steering or any of those goodies, but it had a radio and cassette player and I installed an after market security alarm (but no automatic locks, so I had to disable it before I opened the car door). But it had really good gas mileage (45 mpg was easily reachable on long drives). I finally gave it to my kid brother when I bought a BMW and he killed the tercel's engine a couple of years later when it threw out a connecting rod and knocked out 2 out of the 4 cylinders.
My question is very short and sweet. Name the last concert you attended (band, name of concert/tour, approximate date etc.)?
