I think every manager and their dog will be named at some point this week. Heard on the radio earlier that some bookies are even taking bets on Berti Vogts coming coming back ! Who would be daft enough to put money on that !

Interesting, should do a good job if you can get the lingo.
He has got a great track record and I wouldn't have any objection to the fact that he was foreign because of his pedigree.

Wish Scotland could attract someone of that stature to the job..

I wish that too, but seeing as how the FA are paying Capello over £6 million a year and the SFA are paying around £350,000 a year, I don't think we would attract them !

A friend of mine managed to get a bet on Capello at 8/1 after I talked him into it, just hours after McClaren had fallen on his sword. Though I am so risk averse I didn't even take my own advice. Now I look silly...

Ah yes. Betting advice. I recall a mate of mine before the 1998 World Cup telling me he was considering putting a but down on France to win it and asking what I thought. I told him authoratively that a) France have no strikers and b) you won't win a World Cup without decent strikers.

I was half-right. France's 6 goals in the knockout stages were scored by Thuram (defender) (2), Blanc (defender), Petit (midfielder) and Zidane (midfielder) (2).

Apparently you can win a World Cup with no strikers. I'm not sure he ever forgave me.
