you know.. talking about scotland..

some years ago..for a world cup ( I think it was for the world cup in France) .. they qualified. And there was this cd released that year for the world cup where in each of the country's had picked a song as their theme song, or team anthem whatever...

Anyway that year scotland had picked this really nice song.. i forget the name and the artist, but the song was written for them. I really liked the number... and something really intrigued me about the sng... it had the following ending line in its chorus ..

"just dont come home too soon"..

... somehow.. i found that such a nice take on things.. kinda meant, we'll back you all the way.. we dont expect the world from yuo.. but we do expect that you'll do your best..

It was called "Dont Come Home Too Soon" by Del Amitri. Cracking wee tune that really did sum up our feelings towards the team's chances. Nowadays we just play 500 miles by the proclaimers, doesn't matter where you are in Scotland as soon as that song comes out the place goes nuts.

This isn't gonna turn into one of those Scotland V England debates on football is it ??

Well, Scotland are pish at fitba these days ! Even countries which are definitely not renown for their footballing qualities like Oman, Qatar, Kuwait and even IRAQ are above us in the world rankings ! I'm a Scotland supporter and even although they are gash I'll still go and watch the games, support my team, and above all, get blootered win, lose or draw ! It's a Scottish thing, gracious in defeat and ecstatic in victory (or even in a draw sometimes !)

I hope not, I was just pointing out that while we were gash, England didn't fare much better.

What do you guys think of this GB team for olympics 2012? - it is meant to be manadatory that the host nation has a represenative....

Personally, I think it's a good idea. UEFA and FIFA have said they wouldn't try and push a GB team on other competitions. I think it's the SFA who oppose it the most.

As far as i remember, it's an under 26 competition and as long as each nation gets represented fairly it sounds like a good idea. Just dont let Clive Woodward choose the squad!

They are alowed 3 "pros" aswell, the only problem i can se is that, there will be more english in the squad, unless sat they take 6 from each nation - eng, wal, scot, Ni = 24 which is the noraml sqaud size and then take "pros" from eng, wal, scot - NI don't have any real goos pros - well not just yet......

I think it will be a good idea as long as they split the players from each country so basically the whole first 11 is not made up from one country, give each of the nations a chance to field some players.

if there are 6 players from each nation how the hell are there gonna be 11 players from the same nation in the first team????????
